How to Measure and Improve Team Productivity in Private Practice Optometry Jerry Hayes OD 9781499723908 Books Reviews
Great advice on practice management. My husband and I are working to apply in our own business and we've seen positive changes already!
Dr. Hayes deconstructs the business of practice management with easy to understand and implement steps that are a sure way to enable your business to run more effectively. A must read for any in optometry field.
Jerry Hayes, an eye care industry icon crams his 30+ years of experience into this simple, practical guide for succeeding as an eye care professional. It's clarity is impressive and it's enjoyable in how it's written as Dr. Hayes talks to his audience on their level, not from 100 yards up, where he actually resides in terms of his business management acumen. I couldn't put it down.
I am an optometrist who has managed a successful practice for 30 years. Dr. Hayes has written an easy to understand book that will help you have a more profitable business. I found the chapters on measuring the metrics of my practice very useful. There are examples of many business calculations that made me think more like a business person and not just an eye doctor. I have already referred to the book and made staff changes based on its recommendations. This book would be beneficial to the optometric business owner regardless of the age or size of the practice.
My wife and I have used Jerry's financial metrics for over twenty-five years. These benchmarks have been very useful in helping us to understand our practice performance and have provided an important litmus test in determining what areas need more attention. His unassuming, broad based insight, and balanced perspectives are invaluable. He draws from his optometric, business, and personal relationships to evaluate the issues at hand. Plus he has the ability to see and present the big picture from different angles while adding new information and clarity to concepts. Therefore Jerry's recommedations remain both comforting and challenging. I encourage all ODs who are trying to improve their practice performance to align with the recommendations and guidelines in this book. You will find your office runs much more efficiently, profitably, and confidently.
I stumbled on this book while searching for a business book and, for some reason, I read the description even though my needs have nothing to do with optometry. Turns out it was exactly what I need to improve my small office operations. Yes, it's geared for optometry, but its tenets will benefit any business owner. The author clearly knows how to manage staff for optimum production, and his down-to-earth approach is a pleasure to read. I already dog-eared some sections that apply specifically to me, and I intend to have it within arm's reach at all times. Long story short -- learn what works by practicing Hayes's staff management methods!
Each chapter offers practical, "real-life" solutions to the problems that a private practice optometrist faces in managing his/her team. Especially helpful for hiring and motivating staff. Easy to read.
